Looking to add an interactive element to your next traffic safety activity or event? YOVASO offers a variety of educational loaner items to help schools and youth groups bring traffic safety lessons to life. Loaner items are available at no cost and are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Who can request YOVASO loaner items?
YOVASO loaner items are available to Virginia schools, youth groups, and organizations using the materials for traffic safety education and outreach. To be eligible for the Loaner Program, your school or organization must be registered for one of YOVASO’s annual projects during the current school year.
How do I request a loaner item?
Complete the YOVASO Loaner Item Request Form and provide information about your event or activity, the dates you need the materials, and the item(s) you would like to request. Submitting a request does not automatically guarantee availability. YOVASO staff will review your request and confirm which items are available for your requested dates.
How far in advance should I submit my request?
The earlier, the better! Loaner items are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and availability can be limited during busy times of the school year. Please submit your request as soon as you know the dates of your event, at least two weeks prior. This gives YOVASO staff time to confirm availability, prepare your materials, and allow for shipping when needed.
How long can I keep loaner items?
Loaner items are intended for short-term use around a specific event, activity, or program, around two weeks total. When completing the request form, please include the dates you plan to use the materials. To make sure resources are available to as many schools as possible, YOVASO may limit the length of a loan based on demand, availability, and upcoming reservations.
Can I request more than one item?
Yes! You may request multiple loaner items if you plan to use them during the same event or time period. If you need items for different events or different dates, please submit a separate request for each time period. This helps us accurately manage availability and make sure materials are reserved for the correct dates.
Are loaner items guaranteed to be available?
No. All loaner items are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and quantities are limited. Some popular items may already be reserved for another school or event. YOVASO staff will confirm availability after reviewing your request. Depending on demand, we may also need to limit the quantity of a particular item provided.
Is there a cost to borrow the materials?
No! There is no cost to borrow YOVASO loaner items for approved traffic safety education and outreach. YOVASO also covers standard shipping and return shipping when materials need to be mailed.
How will I receive my loaner items?
Most loaner items can be shipped directly to your school or organization. YOVASO staff will coordinate delivery based on your event date and location. For nearby schools or organizations, YOVASO staff may arrange for materials to be dropped off or picked up when practical.
How do I return the items?
Your loaner materials will include information about caring for and returning the items. When you are ready to return your materials, contact YOVASO staff to request a prepaid return shipping label. Please return all materials promptly so they can be prepared for the next school or organization.
What if something is lost or damaged?
We understand that loaner materials are designed to be used and that normal wear may happen over time. However, proper care of all loaner items is important so we can keep materials in good condition and continue providing them to schools across Virginia. Each loaner item will include care and use instructions. Schools and organizations are expected to follow these instructions and take reasonable steps to protect the materials while they are in their possession. If an item is lost, intentionally damaged, misused, or damaged as a result of not following the provided care instructions, the school or organization may be held responsible for the cost of repair or replacement.
