Speeding is the third leading contributing factor in traffic crashes nationwide accounting for 33% of all fatal crashes. There are roughly 13,000 lives lost each year due to speeding alone. When people get behind the wheel and they’re running late or just want to speed because they think its fun, they’re increasing their chance of being in a crash. Driving over the speed limit happens way too often and is very dangerous. When you speed, you’re putting your life and the lives of those around you at risk. Driving distracted or under the influence of alcohol are also factors that cause people to exceed the speed limit. There truly is no good reason to go faster than the posted speed limit. Please, make a conscious effort to slow down no matter where you are going.
